Our Mission

OutreachND seeks to maintain a viable, visible community among the gay, bisexual population at the University of Ntore Dame. Through peer support and social events, OutreachND aims to create a welcoming and comfortable environment which gay, lesbian, bisexual and questioning students can explore issues of sexuality and cope with homophobic prejudice.

Our Purpose

OutreachND recognizes and respects the Catholic character of the University of Notre Dame and the teachings of the Catholic Church. The mission of OutreachND includes four main goals:

Support: Aware of the internal struggle and societal oppression lesbian, gay and bisexual persons face, OutreachND seeks to support these members who are struggling to accept their sexual orientation.

Education: OutreachND seeks the ongoing education of its members concerning gay and lesbian issues and wishes to keep its members informed about current gay and lesbian issues and wishes to keep its members informed about current developments in the lesbian, gay and bisexual community of the University of Notre Dame about these issues.

Community: With the goal of fostering and strengthening a community that can offer ongoing support and solidarity to its members, OutreachND provides opportunities for members to gather socially and as a community.

Advocacy: OutreachND seeks to be an effective instrument to advocate fair and equal treatment for lesbian, gay and bisexual persons and seeks to be accessible to those persons who would benefit from the programs and services of this organization.
